Job Description1With “colors of the world, diversity” we aim to provide cross cultural understanding and a positive impact on Austrian society by exposing young people to topics like tolerance, diversity and intercultural dialogue. Our vision is to create a generation of youth that is culturally sensitive and put an end to intolerance and discrimination in Austrian society. Therefore a group of 4 interns from different countries and continents will present interactive workshops that showcase the interns and presents issues from the interns country.
Job Description2Together with the other interns and an Austrian trainer prepare workshops for children at the age from 12 to 18 one week time to prepare for 2-days workshops in schools.

Measurable results expected from the internImprove the soft skills, especially training and presentation skills and the skill to lead a group of people. Gaining insight into different cultures, into different ways of life and different ways of thinking. Not only getting information about other cultures but actually experience them. The interns will learn how to motivate and work with children and teenagers. The interns will get routine in planning and holding workshops. They will find out what kind of activities work well with children and teenagers at a specific age.
Preparation required from the intern before arrivalSelect pictures and other materials which can be used to present the own country and bring it to Austria. Excellent English is required for the internship. If that is not the case, improve English

Other Details of the Working ConditionsThe interns will get accommodation in Austrian housholds so that a maximum cultural experience is assured. The interns can use the computer in the Aiesec office and computers at university. However, it is recommended to bring your own laptop. There is free wifi in the university buildings.
Learning points that the intern might obtain during the internshipleading groups of children and teenagers working in an international team gaining trainer skills learn about other cultures and getting aware about the specifics of own culture learn how to spread tolerance among other cultures find solutions to the problem of discrimination
Additional information a potential candidate may require for the InternshipThe intern needs a good and profound knowledge of his/her original culture while on the same time being open minded towards other cultures. He or She has to be independent, creative and wants to change Austrians thinking towards other cultures.
