Department the intern will be workingCaste Away - The Caste Prejudice Project
Job Description1Research: The intern will visit several underprivileged communities. The intern will interact with the community, research on them and conduct surveys. The intern will learn about the intricacies of the caste system.
Job Description2Documentation: The intern will convert the findings into document form through a journal, a booklet etc.
Job Description3Website: The intern will help build a website for the project which will contain basic information about the caste system and experiences and stories that the interns will gather while researching.
Job Description4Spreading Awareness: The intern will disseminate information among university and high school students by the means of discussion groups: formal and informal.

Measurable results expected from the internThe intern is expected to positively impact members of the oppressed community. They should be aware and informed about general aspects of the caste system, education in particular. The intern will also play a key role in creating material about the caste system. The intern will help sensitize students of Delhi about the caste prejudice malady.
Preparation required from the intern before arrivalThe intern is expected to research on the caste system in India. Documents will be sent regarding the same.

Other Details of the Working ConditionsInterns are required to bring their laptops. Cameras of any kind- digital, SLR, video- will be helpful.
Learning points that the intern might obtain during the internshipThe interns will learn about the caste system in depth. They will work in groups during the research, documentation and spreading awareness phases. They will learn how to deal with sensitive topics, interact with disadvantaged people and document information.
Additional information a potential candidate may require for the InternshipThe caste system is an everyday reality in India. The objective of this project is to sensitize others about this situation.
